A 2 day course aimed at both leisure and professional boat users. Covering advanced navigation, weather, passage planning and boat handling techniques for skippering powerboats day and night and on more challenging longer passages. Includes a confidence building night navigation session.

Aim
The Advanced Powerboat course is the pinnacle of the National Powerboat Scheme. It is really aimed at the more experienced boater in both leisure and professional fields and users that want to undertake more adventurous, longer passages both day and night. There’s nothing more exhilarating than completing a well planned and longer passage especially in the dark.
This course opens many doors in the marine industry as well. It’s the required standard for professional organisations such as the RNLI, Police, Military and others.

Student to instructor ratio is 3 : 1
Minimum age is 17
Boat handling should be at least to the standard required for the Intermediate powerboat syllabus. Navigational knowledge should be to Yachtmaster syllabus level.


Opportunities
You can go forward with expected sea time and miles for an examination to obtain an MCA commercial license valid for use on many types of passenger carrying and other commercial vessels operating under MCA codes of practise to work in the marine industry.
